“Love is the bridge between you and everything. ― Rumi
We are about to begin a new holiday season. Thanksgiving is in a few weeks and Christmas and Chanukah will follow. The hustle and bustle has begun between the commercials on TV and every store you walk into is in full blown decoration for the holidays.
I would like to share this beautiful poem/prayer that a dear friend of mine found and shared with me. It is both thought provoking and comforting.
The Bridge
From a New Zealand book of prayers by Joy Crowley
There are times in life when we are called upon to be a bridge,
Not a great monument spanning a distance and carrying
heavy loads of traffic,
But a simple bridge to help one person from
here to there over some difficulty
Such as pain, grief, fear, loneliness,
A bridge which opens the way for an ongoing journey.
When I become a bridge for another, I bring upon myself a blessing,
For I escape from the small prison of self and exist for a wider world,
Breaking out to be a larger being who can enter another’s pain
And rejoice in another’s triumph
I know of only one greater blessing in this life and that is
To allow some else to be a bridge for me.
Please reach out to those you know who may need some support during the holidays. There’s no need to hurt unnecessarily or go it alone.
