“Everyone is trying to accomplish something big, not realizing that life is made up of little things”. ~ Frank A. Clark
I was reminded this week about the little things and how they can turn things around in an instant.
Some days are better than others. Some weeks run smoothly and others are crazy busy and it feels you can’t get to Friday fast enough just to have two days off and catch up with the rest of your life. And in the middle of all the busyness the unexpected happens. A loss occurs, someone you love gets sick, you incur an expense you weren’t expecting. Or, you come down with a bug and it stops you in your tracks. What do you do?
It’s the little things that change everything.
One small gesture.
A kind word
A hug
A kiss
Holding a hand and squeezing it.
A smile
An open door
A compliment
It all matters.
Even when we feel helpless and it feels like the horrible feelings will never go away.
Little things will change your focus.
Little things will put a smile back on your face.
Little things can give you peace of mind.
Little things bring hope.
Little things done over and over add up to the big thing.
Little things always send the message you are enough.
Little things are the purest examples of love.
Mostly, little things take fear, pain and heartbreak away.
Maybe the simplest thing to do is remember lots and lots of little things bring great big pay offs in the long run.
So if today or this week feels over the top, turn to the little things. Every little thing counts.
