“Stop overthinking everything. Just let it be. Relax and go with the flow more. Worry less. And don’t take life so seriously…. live a little!” ~ Mandy Hale
We’re in the month of February and the focus is always Valentine’s Day. Valentine’s Day is great but can often evoke emotions of self-consciousness and intimidation if you are not shouting from the rooftops emulating a fabulous relationship. Isn’t love so much more? Should it matter whether you are in a relationship? Is that how we view love? Are you less than if you’re not in a relationship? And, if you choose not to be in a relationship where does love fit for you?
Love more, worry less. Everyone needs love and many are starving for it. This made me think about love differently. Love is multi-faceted and can be difficult because love always begins with you. We want to be validated and know we matter and are seen. Love can be felt everywhere, anytime, and often. It doesn’t matter if you are in a relationship or if you even know or like a person.
Some ideas to share with you:
• Smile and say hello when you are out and about.
• In the grocery store, notice the workers in each department stacking shelves, making the displays look presentable. Say, thank you for making the display look good. Most of these workers stand there daily with not a word of acknowledgement said to them.
• Express an act of kindness and don’t tell anyone. You will feel good as you brighten the day of someone else.
• Slow down. Stop hurrying and rushing through your day. There’s truth to “stop and smell the roses”.
• Notice more of what’s going on around you.
• Make sure to connect as often as you can with those you love. Friends and family alike. If you don’t have time to make a phone call or visit in person, send a text, “I’m thinking about you”. We need each other.
And a few ideas to love yourself more:
• Stop criticizing yourself, your body, your looks, your clothes, etc. You are beautiful just the way you are.
• Stop worrying about your age. Every year you celebrate your birthday is a blessing.
• Stop worrying about what others think. It really is not important and none of your business.
• Stop worrying about where you are in your career and life. You can always make new choices and learn something new to keep moving forward.
• Learn to laugh more. Life doesn’t have to be serious all the time.
• Learn to let go and leave the past in the past. It’s part of your story and there’s nothing you can do to change it. Make peace with any mistakes. Now is all there is.
Some things to consider and simple to put in motion. To you loving more and worrying less and always being your wonderful self.
