“You’ll be fine. Feeling unsure and lost is part of your path. Don’t avoid it. See what those feelings are showing you and use it. Take a deep breath. You’ll be okay. Even if you don’t feel okay all the time.”
— Louise C.K.
The path of least resistance. If you research or Google that statement, there will be feedback that you are a loser if you take the path of least resistance. You are less than. You have taken the easy way out.
Well… I disagree and I feel the opposite of that statement.
I feel that taking the path of least resistance might very well be the action that will change your life for the better.
Taking the path of least resistance… what does that mean?
What does that mean in relationship to grief?
What does that mean in relationship to moving forward?
What is the path to least resistance?
The path of least resistance is the path that you can take to feel better.
The path of least resistance may be that you need to just breath.
The path of least resistance may mean that you need to do nothing right now.
The path of least resistance may mean that you need to shine a bright light on all that is going on and allow yourself to see what is happening for you with a new set of eyes.
The path of least resistance may mean that you acknowledge how lost you may be, how much pain you are in and at this very moment how much you can’t move forward from where you are.
The path of least resistance may mean that where you are is not where you want to be but you have absolutely no clue how to take the next step to feel better.
The path of least resistance may NOT be the bad place that so many think.
Here’s another way to look at things:
The path of least resistance is your guide.
The path of least resistance is your inner compass that lets you know that you get to choose.
The path of least resistance is the action step you get to take to feel better in every moment.
The path of least resistance may be the very path that allows you to feel better sooner than later just because you decided to pause.
The path of least resistance does not make you a loser.
The path of least resistance is a tool that you have. It is a way to consider what you need to do so that no matter what you feel, the best that you can be in the moment despite all the pain, uncertainty and confusion is how you are.
The path of least resistance does not make you a loser. It does not imply that you are taking the easy way out.
The path of least resistance is a means to feel better.
In any situation, or moment of profound grief, what feels the best?
What memory or experience can you muster up in seconds that will allow you to remember the wonderful aspects of the person you are grieving?
And… how quickly can you go there?
Is that not the path of least resistance?
Is that the not the place where you can run to instantly to feel better?
So…. Take that path to least resistance.
Take that path that makes you feel better. Take that path that allows you to grieve but feel good and celebrate the life that you are grieving.
Take that path of least resistance to understand.
Take that path of least resistance no matter what…
It is always okay to take the path of least resistance to feel better.
