“Above all, do not lose your desire to walk. Every day I walk myself into a state of well-being, and walk away from every illness. I have walked myself into my best thoughts and I know of no thought so burdensome that one cannot walk away from it.” ~ Soren Kierkegaard
I love quotes.
I love sayings.
I love music.
I love words that speak to me.
I love words that make me think.
I love words that make me feel that anything is possible.
I love words that speak for me when I can’t get them out as I would like but convey exactly what is in my heart.
I love words that give me a lifeline of hope and inspiration, to let go, to try something new, to stop doing what is not working and to do something different that just might change everything for me in a way that makes me feel better than I ever thought I could.
Today’s quote is one of those quotes; it is simple; A quote with a simple message… Walk.
Walk for what ales you.
Walk for your health
Walk for your heart
Walk for your mind
Walk for your body
Walk and keep walking until you get all the answers that you need.
And then, walk some more.
Walking is the simplest form of exercise and dare I say healing.
Sometimes it’s hard to muster up the energy to get up and move, but if we wait until we “feel like it” we may never get going!
But have we not heard throughout our lives the value of walking?
Of course we have.
Have we not been encouraged to walk for good health?
Yes we have.
The heart patient who has just undergone surgery is prescribed walking as a regimen for an excellent recovery.
The person who is emotionally challenged and stuck and can’t get out of their own way is prescribed a course of treatment that is very simple, walk. No agenda, no pills to take, just walk.
The writer, who is stuck and hits a rough spot in their manuscript will take a “thinking” break and walk. Eventually they come back with new ideas.
The point of all of this is that walking heals.
And it helps those who are grieving.
Will it change the loss? Absolutely not.
Will it take away the pain of the loss?
No, but it will offer a solution.
Walking will offer you a private and a quiet place for you to sort out your feelings.
Walking is a constant in your arsenal.
Walking is your God-given right that is available to you anytime, anywhere and does not cost you one penny other than your energy to move.
Walking is your sanctuary if you allow it to help you and comfort you.
Walking is a game changer.
I say this because… walking is up to you. It is always in your control. No one can command or force you. You decide. Walking is your friend and constant in a world that sometimes tears you up and rips your heart to shreds.
Walking is your friend.
Walking gives you the time, the chance, the opportunity and the moment, to stop, think, cry, scream, rage, shrink, cower or just let go.
Walking is that powerful.
So dear friend…. have you walked today?
If not, I encourage you to think about what I’ve shared and give yourself permission to take some time for you and just walk.
