“May no gift be too small to give, nor too simple to receive which is wrapped in thoughtfulness and tied with love.” ~ L. O. Baird
Today is a small reminder to encourage you to be open to receiving. We are conditioned to give. Sometimes, at all costs. Kindness gets lost when anyone gives to such a degree they are depleted. Giving under these circumstances never feels good.
What feels better is to give and allow yourself to receive. The balance may seem challenging. When you allow someone to give, you return the gift to them by being the receiver of their kindness. Everyone wins when we give and receive.
As you go about your day, be yourself and give as normal but also pause and notice how good it feels to receive.
And, the only response needed is “thank you”.
Notice how it feels when someone tells you to go ahead of them at the grocery store.
A stranger smiles at you and says, “Good morning”.
A co-worker treats you to a cup of coffee.
You have plans to get together with friends or family. Someone offers to pick you up to give you a break from driving and a chance to spend quality time together.
Someone notices the new outfit you’re wearing and gives you a compliment.
Giving and receiving go hand and hand. Nothing is worth giving until it hurts. Give as much as you want but also receive and watch how good you feel.
To you receiving today and always.
