Start now. Start where you are. Start with fear. Start with pain. Start with doubt. Start with hands shaking. Start with voice trembling. Just start. Start and don’t stop. Start where you are and what you have. Just start. ~ Author Unknown
I’m always sharing with you my love for music, sayings and quotes. This week is all about music. I love many different types of music. One of my favorites is country music. Not only the love them and leave them, rip your heart out songs but many of my favorites are upbeat, feel good, dance your heart out songs with the best lyrics.
Lorrie Morgan is one such country artist I love to listen to. I think she has a fabulous voice and a life story of personal heartbreak, survival, strength, resilience, and most importantly she moves forward.
One of my favorites is, “Shakin Things Up”
Here are the lyrics and if you get a chance, check out YouTube and listen to this fabulous song:
Shakin’ Things Up
Lorrie Morgan
I’ve been told, better safe than sorry
And to look before I leap
To think about what I should say
Long before I speak
Well, I’m tired of holding back my true emotions
I can’t help but cause a little commotion
I like shakin’ things up
I like pushing the boundaries
I like living my life on the edge
And chasing farfetched dreams
I’m gonna feel young when I grow old
I’m gonna challenge the status quo
When being good just ain’t good enough
I like shakin’ things up
I’ve been known to aim too high
And sometimes I’ve missed my mark
But I’ll never know how far I can go
Until I go too far
I believe in moderation
But once in a while I need a celebration
I like shakin’ things up
I like pushing the boundaries
I like living my life on the edge
And chasing farfetched dreams
Celebrate!
Maybe shakin’ things up for you means playing hooky unexpectedly because it’s a beautiful day out
Maybe shakin’ things up for you means shutting off the alarm clock and seeing how late you sleep on a Saturday morning
Whatever feels good The song is upbeat, makes you feel good and as I’ve been listening to it, I realize we sometimes have to shake things up, break the routine, stop the monotony and breathe in a breath of fresh air.
Shake Things Up!
Life changes your world and without a doubt shakes things up. That kind of rattling throws you off kilter and can bring you to your knees.
What I have been thinking about as I listen to this song is “What can I do differently in my world to embrace grief, stand tall, feel everything and keep moving forward.
What can I do today to feel good?
Shake Things Up!
Simple things
Maybe a drive down a different street as you drive to work. Get up 15 minutes earlier to have a few extra minutes to your morning without rushing.
Deliberately reach out to a friend. Call them and enjoy a refreshing new conversation as you catch up.
Shake Things Up!
And keep Shakin’ Things Up!
You are important. Your life matters. And your life is waiting for you to Shake Things Up!
